Beginners Gardening Class

This is a updated version of a class that has been running for a few years.  The classes will be mainly around flowers, how and when to collect seeds, building small gardens, spiliting, pruning, sculping and bleaching trees. Liquid feeding and composting.   Tea and coffee will be provided every week and the course includes a trip to Malahide Castle Walled Gardens. 

The groups are small and the class is run in a relaxed and social atmosphere, designed for people with all types of experience and none.

Starts Thursday 25th April  for 10 weeks outside and in the hall.

Week 1: Spring Garden preparation, Spring bulbs, planting in pots and buckets.

Week 2: Herbaceous Borders.

Week 3: Herb Garden, planting seeds and division of plants.

Week 4: New Potatoes, chitting and planting tomatoes.

Week 5: Fruit, Blueberries, Strawberries and Raspberries.

Week 6: Roses, pruning and feeding.

Week 7: Liquid feeds and compost.

Week 8: Summer bedding annuals.

Week 9: Visit to National Botanic Gardens.

Week 10: Minature gardens, edible flowers, carrots and lettuce.
